March

We stick in the mood of a great movie year and March is promising to be great as well! Please note that I haven’t seen previews of all the movies coming but this is purely based on the previews that I have seen so far.

March 7th:

Bullet to the Head
After watching their respective partners die, a cop and a hitman form an alliance in order to bring down their common enemy.
A very nice no-brainer action flick with Stallone :D.

Spring Breakers
Four college girls who land in jail after robbing a restaurant in order to fund their spring break vacation find themselves bailed out by a drug and arms dealer who wants them to do some dirty work.
This does not promise to be a great movie but I am just very curious what this cast can bring together.

Identity Thief
When a mild-mannered businessman learns his identity has been stolen, he hits the road in an attempt to foil the thief — a trip that puts him in the path of a deceptively harmless-looking woman.
Trailer looks at least funny :).

March 14th:

Broken City
An ex-cop trailing the wife of New York City’s mayor finds himself immersed in a larger scandal.
Havent heard a lot about this movie but the cast with Russell Crowe and Mark Wahlberg it really sounds like a good “corruption” movie

Hitchcock
In 1959, Alfred Hitchcock and his wife, Alma, are at the top of their creative game as filmmakers amid disquieting insinuations about it being time to retire. To recapture his youth’s artistic daring, Alfred decides his next film will adapt the lurid horror novel, Psycho, over everyone’s misgivings. Unfortunately, as Alfred self-finances and labors on this film, Alma finally loses patience with his roving eye and controlling habits with his actresses. When an ambitious friend lures her to collaborate on a work of their own, the resulting marital tension colors Alfred’s work even as the novel’s inspiration haunts his dreams.
A movie about the master of suspense, who would not enjoy it? Brilliantly played by Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Oz the Great and Powerful
Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz. At first he thinks he’s hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking. That all changes, however, when he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
Can’t wait to see how they the story turned out and to return to Oz.

March 21st:

Dark Skies
As the Barret family’s peaceful suburban life is rocked by an escalating series of disturbing events, they come to learn that a terrifying and deadly force is after them.
I am just a sucker for this kind of movies.

About Time
At the age of 21, Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) discovers he can travel in time… The night after another unsatisfactory New Year party, Tim’s father (Bill Nighy) tells his son that the men in his family have always had the ability to travel through time. Tim can’t change history, but he can change what happens and has happened in his own life-so he decides to make his world a better place…by getting a girlfriend. Sadly, that turns out not to be as easy as you might think. Moving from the Cornwall coast to London to train as a lawyer, Tim finally meets the beautiful but insecure Mary (Rachel McAdams). They fall in love, then an unfortunate time-travel incident means he’s never met her at all. So they meet for the first time again-and again-but finally, after a lot of cunning time-traveling, he wins her heart. Tim then uses his power to create the perfect romantic proposal…
I loved the Time Traveller’s Wife and I hope this movie is similar to it.

Unfortunately there is no trailer yet :(.

Jack The Giant Slayer
A modern day fairy tale in which the long-standing peace between men and giants is threatened, as a young farmer leads an expedition into the giants’ kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess.
Adventure movies like this one always draw me to the Cinema, hope it is as much adventurous as it sounds. Trailer looks a bit like the Narnia movies meets Clash of the Titans.

March 27th:

The Host
A parasitic alien soul is injected into the body of Melanie Stryder. Instead of carrying out her race’s mission of taking over the Earth, “Wanda” (as she comes to be called) forms a bond with her host and sets out to aid other free humans.
This movie is from the writer of the Twilight Saga and personally I hope it is a bit more adventurous, better acted and really as interesting as the trailer is showing us.

The Croods
The Croods is a prehistoric comedy adventure that follows the world’s first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Traveling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures — and their outlook is changed forever.
Move over Fred Flintstone, here come The Croods 🙂 and I have to admit, it looks hilarious, enjoy the Trailer with a Zalando moment ;-).

March 28th:

21 and Over
When Straight-A college student Jeff Chang’s two best friends take him out for his 21st birthday on the night before an important medical school interview, what was supposed to be a quick beer becomes a night of humiliation, over indulgence and utter debauchery.
The next Project X?

G.I. Joe: Retaliation
Framed for crimes against the country, the G.I. Joe team is terminated by the President’s order, and the surviving team members face off against Zartan, his accomplices, and the world leaders he has under his influence.
Delayed for over a year, it is finally time to enjoy the sequel of G.I. Joe, in 3D.  Wonder what they changed besides making it in 3D.
